Welcome! My first Quilt
Welcome to the Quiltry Quilts blog!
My name is Steffe Harwood and I am a modern quilter living in Evanston, IL. I plan to use this blog to document and discuss my quilting triumphs, failures, and some of my daily life.
My love of crafting started long ago when I was very young. Legos, blanket forts, and cardboard castles for my pet hamsters propelled me to pursue a career in Architecture. Throughout my childhood I picked up many skills including knitting, crocheting, sewing, beading, pottery, sculpting, woodworking, illustration, jewelry-making, linoleum printing, and many others.
Since this is a blog about quilting, I thought I might share with you the first quilt I ever made.

I made this quilt for my Grandmother in 2001-2002. It was for one of my quarterly art classes in middle school. We were told to design and hand stitch a mini quilt. This mini quilt was entirely designed, stitched, and beaded by 12 year old me! I carried this project around in a crappy old paper bag for months until I finished it. I brought it with me everywhere to get sewing time in. It wouldn't be until 15 years later that I pick up patchwork again.
Thanks for reading and sharing in my quilting adventures!
